Project Proposal #2

My second project is straightforward and simple.  I intend to literally deconstruct a projected image, and reconstruct it again.

The image will first be projected into a large mirror and then reflected into a smaller mirrors.

The image will be divided into parts which correspond with the small mirrors.  These small mirrors will disjoin the projected image and reflect a portion of the image onto a screen.  The end result will look like a collage of the original image.

The End.

  1. i'm interested in the fact that you are inspired by shadows but working directly with reflective surfaces...it makes me think about your own shadow (that is the shadow of the screen) and how this might shape the work overall (maybe THIS is the 2nd projection?).

check this out - made by 2 ART/ARTH grad students:

i also like thinking about this as a roving screen-based project...are you moving around the space projecting onto various surfaces?

by negative space do you mean that the image projected into those spaces (caught by the white suit) contribute to the image/performance overall? or that those negative spaces are actually black & thus absorb the projected image?

does the mirror extend onto your back?

maybe a place to start is with small pieces of mirror and thinking about possible strategies for affixing them to fabric (how big is too big/heavy? how small is too small? what material will work? tape/glue/thread?)
